MARITIME COLLEGE ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF BOOGIE DOWN TO THE SOUND!

17³Ô¹ÏÍø Waterfront will again be hosting a Boogie Down to the Sound day for the Bronx and NYC community.

Bronx, NY – June 10, 2025- 17³Ô¹ÏÍø announced today in coordination with  that this Saturday July 12, 2025, from 11:00am - 4:00pm, RAIN OR SHINE the campus will be open to the community for interactive activities throughout the day.  These waterfront events are free to the general public and will connect residents to the Long Island Sound/East River to increase the use, appreciation, and support for our local waters. Community members can participate in maritime activities such as:

• Stewardship Activities (i.e. shoreline cleanup, oyster restoration with Billion Oyster Project)

• Marine Environmental Science (i.e. shoreline exploration/seining, touch tank, water quality monitoring)

• Waterfront Community Programs (i.e. kayaking, sailing and boating with qualified skippers)

• Free fishing clinic provided by I Fish NY

By train & bus: 6 Subway Westchester Square/East Tremont Avenue to BX40 bus to front gate

By ferry: East River Ferry to Ferry Point Park – 2.5 miles from campus

This event is free; you can  if you'd like. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged.
