Emergency notification system: rave
SUNY 17³Ô¹ÏÍø uses an emergency notification system called RAVE. The RAVE emergency notification system sends alerts through a 17³Ô¹ÏÍø email, cell phone, text and voice message.
When a text message is received from 672-83, or a phone call is received from 718-409-7200, the text message/phone call originates from the RAVE system.
How do I sign up?
All students, faculty and staff with a 17³Ô¹ÏÍø email address are automatically enrolled to receive a RAVE alert by email. To register a phone number and receive text messages and notifications, .
When enrolling for the first time, select "Forgot Password" and enter the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø email address. The RAVE system will send a secure password by email. Then log in and update your preferences.
What kind of information will I receive through RAVE?
RAVE will be used to notify the campus community about events that impact the campus, such as weather delays, closures, power and other types of outages, and emergency situations on campus. The College will also periodically conduct tests of the system with the campus community.
Is the information I share secure?
Yes. The data shared is collected and stored securely. Additionally, it is not shared with any third-party vendors.
Is there a charge to use RAVE?
The service is free, but your cell phone carrier may charge standard text and data rates. Check with your provider for more information.

How can the general public receive emergency messages?
